Running Through the Storm | Solestop Run Club #3

Since the beginning of Solestop Run Club, May 23 marked our third official community run together. Despite the cold temperature, heavy rain, and strong winds throughout the morning, we were incredibly thankful for every runner who showed up and every participant who signed up to support the event. Your energy and commitment truly made the day memorable.

A Challenging Morning

Before the run, we were already facing a challenge as the rain showed no signs of stopping, and several planned routes were affected by road construction and closures. Thankfully, the pacers quickly discussed alternative options and calmly adjusted the route on-site.

The final route began at the Solestop store, heading north along Birchmount toward Carlton Park before looping back to the store, totalling approximately 5–6 km.

Through the Rain Together

Building on the experience from our previous runs, this session was divided into two groups, a running group and a walking group, allowing participants of different paces and experience levels to comfortably enjoy the event together. We would also like to give a huge thank you to Alan’s team and all of the volunteer pacers for helping lead and support the run.

As usual, everyone gathered for a group warm-up around 10:30 AM before setting off. From the moment the run began, the rain continued to pour and only became heavier as the route progressed. Combined with the low temperature and strong winds, the conditions made this one of our most physically demanding runs so far.

Even so, the weather never stopped the spirit of the runners. Running under these conditions was undoubtedly a challenge, but having people beside you, running together, encouraging each other, and sharing the same experience, made every kilometre easier to push through. Along the route, runners were still seen smiling, chatting, and sharing moments of laughter despite the storm.

Back at SOLESTOP

After completing the run, participants gradually returned to the store, drying off from the rain while enjoying drinks and snacks kindly provided by Kaycie Bakery. Some stayed to chat, while others took photos together, and the atmosphere inside the store quickly became warm, lively, and welcoming.

Solestop would once again like to thank Alan’s team, all volunteer pacers, and every runner who attended and supported the event despite the weather conditions. For those who signed up but could not make it this time, we still truly appreciate the support and hope to see you at the next run.

See You at the Next Run

The next SOLESTOP Run Club session will be announced soon. Stay tuned for the next session!

No matter your background or running experience, everyone is welcome to join us and run together, including your pets.

See you at the next one.
